How to Look Up a Phone Number in Utah

Ask who does the work before you ask who has the number. Driver licenses, unemployment, Medicaid, and birth certificates are state jobs. Marriage licenses, passports, property taxes, and jail information are county jobs. Building permits, business licenses, garbage, and water bills are city jobs. Schools answer through their district, and the universities answer through a campus operator. Sort that first and you will usually land on the right page in one try.

Online directories are not the only route, and in Utah they are often not the best one. There is no statewide 311. When a website has no staff list, the working fallbacks are the main switchboard, the clerk or recorder counter, the department front desk in person, and a written records request for anything that is not published. Utah 211 handles community and social service referrals by phone or text, which covers the ground no government directory does. State employees can be searched by name, but only state employees.

Utah Staff Directory Search

The Utah State Directory of Employees is the statewide staff lookup. It is free and public, and the search form is deliberately narrow. Both name fields are required, so you cannot browse a department or pull a list. 6. Report money loss or threats to your local police or sheriff on the non-emergency line.
