This Is Not a Government Office or Directory Service. We run a private reference site. We cannot place calls, change directory listings, verify caller identity, or issue official directory information. For any of those, you need to reach the right office or carrier directly. For emergencies, dial 911. For a mental-health or suicidal crisis, dial 988.
Need a Specific Phone Number?
Here's where to look for the numbers most people ask about in Utah:
- State agency numbers: see the Utah staff directory search. The state employee directory at statephone.utah.gov needs a first and last name, and the governor's constituent line is 1-801-538-1000
- County and city numbers: the Utah Association of Counties answers at 801-265-1331 and lists all 29 counties. Salt Lake County offices run through 385-468 numbers, Utah County through 801-851, and Salt Lake City publishes a department list at slc.gov
- School and university numbers: see Utah school district and university directories, or call the State Board of Education at 801-538-7500 or the University of Utah operator at 801-581-7200
- Public utility numbers: see Utah utility phone numbers. Emergency lines are separate from customer service, and a gas leak means leaving the building, then calling 911 and 1-800-767-1689
- Public safety numbers: see Utah public safety phone numbers for 911, 988, 211, and local non-emergency lines such as 801-799-3000 in Salt Lake City
- Community services: dial 211 anywhere in Utah, text a ZIP code to 801-845-2211, or search app.utah211.org when you would rather read than call
- Health and social services: see health and social services in Utah, or start with the Health Resource Line at 1-888-222-2542
- Vital records and licenses: the Office of Vital Records answers at 801-538-6105 and no longer runs a public walk-in window, so certified copies come from local health departments such as 385-468-4230 in Salt Lake County or 801-851-7005 in Provo
- Area code reference: see Utah phone area codes for 801, 385, and 435
- Phone code reference (N11, star codes, +1): see Utah phone codes
- Reverse-lookup for an unknown caller: see reverse-lookup channels
- Reporting a scam or robocall: see how to report scam calls, which covers the FTC, the FCC, and the Utah Division of Consumer Protection at 801-530-6601
- Public records requests: requests go to the records officer at the agency that holds the record, under the state Government Records Access and Management Act. Each Utah city, county, and state department links its records request page from its own site
